Augustinians Launch Relief Assistance for Typhoon Odette Survivors

In the wake of the devastating Typhoon Odette (International name: Rai), the Santo Niño de Cebu Augustinian Social Development Foundation, Inc. (SNAF), the social development arm of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Philippine Augustinians, launched emergency assistance among its partner communities and organizations affected by the storm.

The preliminary wave of relief operations were aimed to address the survival needs of its constituencies who were displaced from their abode and livelihood, and are living precariously under conditions of deprivation of basic necessities and social services.

In spite of its scarce resources, SNAF with the support of the Augustinian Province of Santo Niño de Cebu, distributed relief packs for its homeless partner-beneficiaries and candle vendors around the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño (BMSN) in Cebu City on December 22, 2021.   This was followed by financial support to BMSN-mandated organizations benefitting some 600 member-organizations from December 21 to 24, 2021.

On December 29, it led distribution of relief packs to evacuees ensconced at the Santo Niño Spirituality Center in the uphill barangay of Tolo-Tolo, Consolacion, Cebu.  Some 214 families, including 200 children, received the much-needed goods.

On January 6, 2022, it also distributed relief assistance to at least 400 families in Brgy.Kang-actol, Dumanjug, Cebu.  The barangay is the site of the SNAF’s envisioned climate-smart village which was received the brunt of the typhoon’s fury.

SNAF continues its campaign drive to its relief efforts.  In-kind support may be delivered to the Basilica del Santo Niño-Pilgrim Center.  Financial aid may also be sent through:
